Advancing Society through Transformative Experience

CMU students at the senior MFA art exhibition at Miller ICA.

The Miller Institute for Contemporary Art is Carnegie Mellon University's contemporary art institute. It supports experimentation that expands notions of art and culture, providing a forum for conversations and exchange. Its mission is to advance society through transformative experiences with contemporary art and culture and to be a dynamic institute for learning and research that activates, informs and inspires.

Miller ICA is Free and Open to the Public

The Miller ICA expands the possibilities for public encounters with art. Our community-facing programs will provide transformative experiences with contemporary art through conversation and exchange in our free and open public space. The Miller ICA's ability as a mid-size entity is unique as it fills a void between the large Pittsburgh museums and small community organizations, and it not only provides an access point for people to engage with CMU, but also a space where people can open a discourse around important societal issues.
